This Privacy Policy explains how mode (“mode,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our websites, mobile apps, browser extensions, and other services that link to this Policy (the “Services”).

  1. Information we collect

    You provide

    • Account & profile: name, email, password, age range, style preferences, saved sizes/brands.
    • Content & activity: collections, wishlists, notes, ratings/reviews you author, and messages you send us.
    • Purchasing intent: items you save or compare; merchants you click out to; optional order confirmations you forward to us.

    Collected automatically

    • Device & usage: IP address, device/browser type, app version, identifiers, pages/screens viewed, clicks/taps, referring URLs, and timestamps.
    • Cookie/SDK data: cookies, pixels, and mobile identifiers that support core features, analytics, and (if enabled) ads measurement/retargeting.
    • Approximate location: derived from IP to localize content and comply with regional rules.

    From others

    • Retailers/partners: we may receive confirmation that a click or code from mode led to a sale (e.g., for affiliate attribution). We do not receive your full payment card details from merchants.
    • Analytics/ads providers: aggregated or de‑identified performance metrics.

  2. How we use information

    • Provide & improve the Services: operate accounts, save preferences, troubleshoot, prevent fraud, and measure performance.
    • Personalize discovery: recommend products/brands, size guidance, fit/quality signals, and ranked search based on your activity and preferences.
    • Research & product development: analyze trends (e.g., price history, review sentiment) to improve results for shoppers.
    • Communications: transactional messages, feature announcements, surveys. You can opt out of non‑essential emails.
    • Compliance & safety: enforce terms, protect against harmful conduct, and comply with legal obligations.
    • AI/automation: We use algorithms (including machine learning) to rank results, de‑duplicate listings, and summarize reviews. We do not sell your personal information to train third‑party general AI models.

  3. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

    We process your data where needed to perform a contract (provide the Service), with your consent (e.g., non‑essential cookies/ads), for legitimate interests (analytics, security, product improvement), and to comply with laws.

  4. When we share information

    • Service providers & processors: hosting, analytics, security, customer support, and measurement partners bound by contract.
    • Merchants/affiliate networks: when you click “Shop” we may share identifiers (e.g., a click ID or code) so the merchant can attribute a sale to mode.
    • Advertising/measurement (optional): if you enable personalized ads, we may share limited identifiers or hashed contact info to measure campaigns or avoid showing you irrelevant ads.
    • Business transfers & legal: part of a merger/acquisition, or to comply with law, prevent fraud, or protect rights.

  5. Your rights & choices

    • Access, correct, delete, or export your data via account settings or by contacting us.
    • Opt out of marketing emails at any time (unsubscribe link).
    • Cookies & tracking: manage preferences in our cookie banner or your browser.
    • Do Not Sell or Share / Targeted Ads: U.S. residents can opt out in Settings → Privacy or via the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal; we honor GPC where required.
    • EEA/UK/Swiss users: you may object to processing or request restriction; you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local authority.

  6. Children’s privacy

    mode is not directed to children and is intended for users 16+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us to delete it.

  7. Data retention

    • Account & profile data: kept while your account is active.
    • Clickstream & device logs: typically 12–24 months for security, analytics, and fraud prevention.
    • Affiliate/financial attribution records: retained as required for tax/audit (often 7 years).

    We may keep de‑identified or aggregated data without time limit.

  8. Security

    We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the data. No system is 100% secure; please use a strong, unique password and keep it confidential.

  9. International transfers

    If you access mode from outside the U.S., your data may be processed in the U.S. and other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses).
